The Manage Skills section offers you straightforward guidance on how to take action on communication and number skills, plus a directory of national and regional skills support.

The Compare Standards tool helps you check your understanding of safety and quality against the CIS, NVQ and GSCC Codes of Practice to decide what level of communication and number skills staff need. 

Note: In due course (late 2010) the CIS will be amended , and the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) will supersede NVQs. However, the tool remains current until at least the end of 2010.
