2010 changes to the Common Induction Standards

The Common Induction Standards (CIS) referenced in Care Skillsbase were introduced in 2006. A new set of CIS were released in June 2010.

There is a 12 month transition period during which both sets of CIS will be valid.

Care Skillsbase resources currently reference the 2006 CIS and are valid until June 2011.

Any new resources developed for the 2010 CIS will be clearly signposted.

2010 changes to health and social care NVQs

Health and Social Care NVQs levels 2 and 3 are being replaced by new qualifications under the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). This process began in August 2010.

Employers and learners should contact their assessment centre to find out more about the changes.

Anyone already registered for the NVQ would usually have 2 years from registration in which to complete the qualification. Learners should contact their assessment centre to check how long they will have to complete their NVQ.

Care Skillsbase resources currently reference NVQ levels 2,3 and 4 and are expected to remain valid until August 2012.

Any new resources developed for the QCF diplomas will be clearly signposted.
