Care Skillsbase is a website offering free, practical resources to help social care employers in England to address communication and number skills issues in the care workforce.
It is an officially endorsed service, sponsored by the Social Care Institute for Excellence and Skills for Care, and supported by the Commission for Social Care Inspection and the General Social Care Council.
The project began in 2006, as a regional pilot. The development team worked closely with 20 employer-partners in SE England, who helped to design and test the resources. The resulting website, entitled SISCo, was successfully trialled in summer 2007. Following a comprehensive evaluation, the resources were extended and relaunched in 2008 as the Care Skillsbase website.
All care staff need good communication and number skills. We warmly welcome Care Skillsbase and the support it offers employers to take constructive action on these skills.
